The new Arnold Elementary School provides a bright and inviting learning space for students to learn, play, and grow.

Built into the site’s steep hill, the new two-story building takes advantage of the site’s unique topography, capitalizes on shaded areas for outdoor instruction and play, and maximizes opportunities for learning. The building is organized by two classroom wings and a specialized instruction wing attached to a central administrative and learning core. The heart of the school, a light-filled media center with a makerspace and media workroom, links the three wings together.

Outside of the centrally located media center, benches along the corridor maximize spatial usage by providing an area for small group lessons. Nearby flexible learning studios support the school’s science curriculum and the county’s Enhancing Elementary Excellence program that engages students in project-based and student-centered learning. General classrooms are outfitted with state-of-the-art technology and moveable furniture to allow teachers the flexibility they need. Outdoor learning classrooms and play areas flank the central wing allowing for easy access throughout the school day.
