Groundbreaking of Frederick High School

Groundbreaking of Frederick High School

This morning, a groundbreaking ceremony was held celebrating the official start of construction on the new Frederick High School.

Incorporating the principles of 21st century learning and flexibility, the new $97M, 270,618-SF comprehensive high school will be organized around a central community zone - the heart of the building - that provides a clear circulation path and includes the dining, commons and enclosed courtyard areas. The design is intended to visually recollect the previous school building, which was of historical significance to the community, while providing new state-of-the-art teaching and learning spaces. The school is anticipated to achieve LEED Silver Certification and construction is expected to be complete for students and staff to arrive in August 2017, with the demolition of the existing school and the subsequent construction of new site amenities to be completed in 2018
