GWWO is excited to announce that Garrett Park Elementary School has achieved LEED Gold Certification. The building uses an energy efficient geothermal heating and cooling system and includes a 26,000-SF green roof, sun shade system, natural daylighting, and parking spaces reserved for low-emitting cars. Additionally, low voc paints and finishes were used to mitigate the effect on the environment. The school was also the top energy performer for Montgomery County Public Schools for the period of May 2012-April 2013. This is GWWO’s third LEED Gold Certified project.
