Dedication & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of Tulip Grove Elementary School

Dedication & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of Tulip Grove Elementary School

Students, staff, and school administrators recently gathered to celebrate the dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony of the GWWO-designed renovation and addition to Tulip Grove Elementary School.

Constructed in the early 1960's, the school required a modernization and expansion to meet today's academic requirements. The project demolished select portions of the existing building to make way for the new addition, while the existing classroom wing and courtyard were maintained and improved, receiving new building systems, windows and doors, fire alarm systems, and a new roof.

The new addition houses large programmatic functions including the gymnasium, multi-purpose room, music rooms, media complex, a computer lab, and administration spaces. Connecting the old and the new, a main circulation spine runs throughout the building and provides direct views out and access to the courtyard.

Designed to acheive LEED Gold certification, the project's sustainable features include natural daylighting, water conservation measures, low-emitting building materials, and high efficiency systems.
