The first phase of the two part renovation to Baltimore’s Rita R. Church Community Center, located in the Clifton Park neighborhood, had its grand opening today.
GWWO worked with the Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks to design the exterior restoration, interior rehabilitation and expansion.
The facility is now able to serve as a multi-use community recreation center with the addition of locker rooms, a computer lab/learning center, game and craft rooms, fitness and support spaces, and a 2,000–SF multi-purpose room. The second phase of the design will incorporate a new 11,892-SF gymnasium with associated storage and support.
When both phases are complete, the new center will be 29,504-SF and will incorporate sustainable design elements, including an extensive green roof, geothermal heating and cooling system and sustainable materials.
