GWWO is pleased to announce we have been named a winner of Zweig Group’s 2018 Best Firms to Work For Award!
The award recognizes the top architecture, engineering, environmental, and multidiscipline consulting firms throughout the US and Canada based on their culture, workplace practices, employee benefits, employee retention rates, professional development, and more—both from the management and staff’s perspectives. The award is given to a prestigious list of firms who have cultivated exceptional workplaces and are recognized for their ability to create an environment where their employees feel valued and can clearly see their contribution to the overall mission and success of the firm.
As GWWO has grown from a small to medium-sized firm, our principals have focused intently on maintaining a strong firm culture through a collaborative and open work environment, firm-wide Friday happy hours, team outings, office parties, and other engaging activities. These include open design critiques which provide employees with an additional learning opportunity, as well as the chance to learn about and voice their opinion on firm projects beyond those they are directly involved in on a day-to-day basis. Furthermore, the firm’s strategic plan is shared with the entire staff, as is the overall performance and position of the firm, and decisions are explained with their rationale and comments welcomed. Everyone's opinion is valued and discussed. This commitment to fostering a collaborative workplace, in addition to other factors, has landed us the #10 spot on the list of architecture firms.
The two-part award submission included a corporate survey filled out by firm leaders on workplace practices, policies, and benefits, followed by an anonymous employee survey gauging satisfaction in each category. Firms were then ranked based on a combination score comprised of 25% corporate survey and 75% employee survey.
The winners were celebrated last week at the 2018 Hot Firm & A/E Industry Awards Conference in Dallas, TX—the AEC industry’s largest business conference for leaders and aspiring leaders of AEC firms in the US and Canada. The complete list of winners can be viewed here.
