Groundbreaking Ceremony of The Nature Place

Groundbreaking Ceremony of The Nature Place

Yesterday marked the groundbreaking ceremony of Berks Nature's The Nature Place, a $4M environmental exploration and education center in Reading, PA.

Expected to open in the spring of 2017, the building will be simple, functional, and serve as a demonstration of Berks Nature's environmental and conservation principles. Hoping to inspire a new generation of conservationists, organizers envision the center as a place where people can connect with nature in a time when we are increasingly becoming disconnected from it. Sited adjacent to an existing classroom building, the 9,000-SF addition will include two new classrooms, conference rooms, offices, a lobby and gift shop, displays on the park's habitat, and an open plaza for outdoor recreation. The building is being designed to achieve LEED Silver Certification.
