Master planning for the 300-acre Blandair Park sought to balance development for recreation with preservation of over 200 acres of forest, wetlands, meadows, and a historic farm complex.  A major county road splits the park site and led to the development of the park in two parcels. The south section will offer more recreational amenities, while the north retains its more pastoral, natural setting, along with the restored Blandair Mansion and historic farm outbuildings.

Phases I, II, and III have all been designed and constructed within the southern portion of the site.  Conceptual design for phase VI, the remaining parcel in that area, has also been completed.  The designs follow the visual themes developed in the master planning process, focusing on the use of building and landscape forms and materials that echo the farm vernacular and existing buildings on the site.

Various forms and options were explored for the new park structures, all following the visual themes established during the master planning phase.
