Ground Broken at Occoquan Regional Park

Ground Broken at Occoquan Regional Park

On Saturday, September 27, a groundbreaking ceremony took place for the new Jean R. Packard Occoquan Center.

Sited on top of a bluff overlooking the Occoquan River, the new center will be constructed on two levels to utilize the existing natural topography. Inside, the new center will serve numerous functions and will feature a main event rental space that opens up to a garden area with stunning views of the river, an environmental education room where visitors can learn about the flora, fauna, and native people that John Smith encountered, as well as a new café and adjoining outdoor paved terrace and boardwalk plaza. The new facility is designed to achieve LEED Certification.
