Cost is a consistent presence in our design process, rather than just a touchstone at key milestones. We continually evaluate alternatives to maximize innovation in design rather than maximizing cost. We regularly estimate project costs in-house and partner with independent cost estimating firms. We consider current and future economic factors, including availability of local construction labor (considering the rate of local construction starts), national trends in material unit costs and availability, and the overall national economic outlook.
