October 19, 2009: "Visitor Centers: Telling the Story Through Design". GWWO principal Mark Lapointe discussed the visitor center building type and the role that design, going beyond the typical interpretive tools of exhibits and films, can play in telling a site’s story. This event was part of Baltimore Architecture Week.

September 16, 2009: Building Information Modeling Seminar. GWWO principal Paul Hume served on the organizing committee and as moderator for this seminar, which was presented by the Building Congress & Exchange of Baltimore and encompassed a panel discussion that explored how design professionals and contractors are successfully using BIM technology to improve the construction process.

December 9-12, 2008: GWWO architects participated in the Designing the Parks Conference Part II: The Present and Future of Park Planning and Design. The symposium focused on contemporary challenges and opportunities in public park design and served as a critical step in producing a set of design and planning principles to guide future park policy, development, and management over the next century.  GWWO president Alan Reed was one of a select group invited to be part of the subsequent Design Congress, where participants were tasked with refining input gathered during the conference.

October 27, 2008: "What Story Does Your Building Tell " Presented by GWWO president Alan Reed and principal David Wright at the 2008 Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums MAAM Annual Conference in Washington, DC.

May 20-21, 2008: GWWO architects attended the Designing the Parks Conference Part I: The History of Park Planning & Design, in Charlottesville, VA. The symposium, which was sponsored by the National Park Service, The Cultural Landscape Foundation, University of Virginia, Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, George Wright Society, National Parks Conservation Association, and the Van Alen Institute, focused on the history of the planning and design of regional, state, and national parks.
