GWWO Food Drive
Through donations of time and money, 100% of the GWWO staff participated in this year’s holiday food drive, raising $1282. The firm matched the amount raised by the staff for a final donation of $2564 for the Maryland Food Bank. With the money raised, a family of five will be fed for over a year!
GWWO Team Wins First Place in the 2010 Kennedy Krieger Festival of Trees
For the third year in a row, the GWWO team took top honors in the Gingerbread Village, this year winning Overall First Place with their Thomas Point Lighthouse entry. Every year the team re-imagines local architectural icons through their gingerbread creations. Thomas Point, the screw-pile lighthouse which stands in the Chesapeake Bay, is one of the most recognizable lighthouses in the state of Maryland. The gingerbread version did the original justice with a working LED light, candy rock shoal, and a cast of holiday characters including Ralphie from A Christmas Story, Santa delivering presents via speedboat, water skiing reindeer, Waldo, festival elves, polar bears, penguins, mariners from The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, and of course the cast of Harry Potter.
The Festival of Trees is a “three day extravaganza” run by the internationally recognized Kennedy Krieger Institute. All proceeds go towards supporting the Institute.
