Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center Breaks Ground

Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center Breaks Ground

Ground was broken Saturday, March 9th for the new Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park Visitor Center.

The new visitor center will feature a series of exhibit galleries and a 50-seat film experience area intended to immerse visitors in the story of Tubman's life, taking them on a journey from her childhood through to her efforts associated with the Underground Railroad resistance movement. The building will be LEED Silver Certified and the design features a green roof, recycled materials, energy efficient lighting and water conservation techniques. An outdoor memorial garden, interpretive trails and a picnic pavilion are also planned for the 17-acre site.
