In order to satisfy Garrison Forest School’s commitment to the arts as an integral part of the curriculum for pre-k through grade twelve education, the need was recognized for a concentrated and focused center for fine and performing arts classes.
Scale and massing for the new center take theirs clues from the existing campus buildings. Compatible materials were selected to unify the building with the campus, while the rotunda gallery form and positioning of the building at a key campus crossroads signal its prominence and importance in the educational experience.
"While I have worked with ... knowledgeable and creative architects in other contexts, I have not found them as instructive, thoughtful, and responsive as [GWWO]." – B.J. McElderry, Art Department Chair, Garrison Forest School
