The addition and renovations to Washington College's Hodson Hall, the College’s main dining and student services facility, were completed at the heart of campus and adjacent to the College's oldest buildings. Hodson was originally constructed in 1936, with an addition in 1965. The latter addition was demolished and the new approximately 40,000-SF addition constructed in its place.

In the original structure, which houses student study spaces and one of the College’s main special event spaces, sensitive upgrades were made to meet modern accessibility requirements and to address deficiencies in the building systems. The new addition features a transparent central volume anchored by a solid brick form to give the complex a cohesive image, seamlessly blending old and new. The central core houses a large multi-purpose space on the first floor, with main kitchen and servery spaces above. Exterior terraces offer second-level outdoor dining spaces on the north and south sides of the building, enabling engagement between the students dining and passersby on main campus circulation routes.
